The key with any gym or exercise room is that you want it to be inviting enough that you will be drawn to it on a daily basis. Our quality true-reflection mirror glass can be customized and styled for a perfect fit and become the focal point of any exercise room.

Mounting your custom gym mirror:

Decorative Clips, Standoffs and Rosettes are also available. These can be installed either on the corners or the sides of the mirror.
Mirror Mastic can be used as an adhesive to glue the mirror to the wall for maximum safety.
Mirror glass is heavy and fragile, so the supporting wall must be well supported.
J-bars or L-bars can be used to support the mirror in the bottom and top. Several different finishes and colors available including: Chrome, brushed nickel, and brass.

What You Need to Know About Gym Mirrors:

Normally installed directly on the wall.
Mirror glass is heavy and fragile, so the supporting wall must be well supported.
All of our mirrors are "cut to fit" so you can be as creative as you want with your space.
Maximum size in one sheet of mirror is 84" by 130"
Sheets of mirror can be organized next to each other to cover an entire wall.
It is always nice to use the largest size mirrors for a "seamless look" but you need to make sure that there is enough access to the space and mirror sheets can fit through the doors and openings.
We normally use J-bars or L-bars to support the mirror in the bottom and top. Several different finishes and colors available including: Chrome, brushed nickel, brass and oil rubbed bronze.
Decorative Clips, Standoffs and Rosettes are also available. These can be installed either on the corners or thru the mirrors for achieving your desired look.
We use mastic to glue the mirror to the wall for maximum safety.
Decorative edges such as a beveled mirror edge are normally not used in exercise room mirrors.
Concerned about the openings in the wall? Worry no more, we can provide you with cut outs for your electrical outlets as well as larger openings for vents or TV mounts.
Safety Backing may be required depending on the size of the mirror and number of cut outs for various openings such as electrical outlets.

All of our gym mirrors are "cut to fit" so you can be as creative as you want with your space. Maximum size in one sheet for shipping is 69". We are only offering 1/4" thick mirror for our online shoppers, as this is the most commonly used thickness in the market. Add safety backing online:

If breakage occurs, glass fragments are held in place to reduce the risk of injury from scattered glass and make cleanup easier.
Strengthens the mirror overall, increasing impact strength to help prevent breakage.
Prevents moisture entrapment to keep mirror from delamination.

Different edge works available online:

Flat Polish Edge:In this application the edges of the mirror have been polished to a smooth shiny finish. Choose a flat polish when the edges of your mirror are visible and you prefer a minimalistic look.
*Beveled Polish Edge: : In this application the edges of the mirror are cut and polished in an angle with a specific Bevel Width to produce a certain "look". This process leaves the mirror thinner around the edges and thicker in the center. This is normally used in places where the mirror is a focal point in the room. The Bevel Width around the mirror can range in size from 1/4" to 1 3/4" and specified by you. Please choose your Bevel Width when ordering you mirror.
Seamed Edge:In this application, after the mirror is cut the edges are sanded to dull the sharp edges. This is to make the mirror safe to handle. Choose a seamed edge if the mirror is to be framed and in applications where the edges are not visible.

Mirror Installation

We offer two types of wall mirror installation: a Wall to Wall Installation and a Short of Wall Installation. Both types of wall mirrors can be installed within two weeks, if the residence is within our service area.

Wall to Wall Installation

A Wall to Wall Installation involves measuring a mirror to perfectly "fit" one entire wall, from edge to edge. This involves a glass professional measuring all dimensions of the wall in order to account for any irregularities, cut outs for outages, etc. The ultimate product is a perfectly fitted continuous piece of glass.

This type of installation usually requires the use of a "J-bar" along the bottom, creating a “butt joint”. The remaining exposed edges are polished.

This method of putting in a mirror creates a seamless, clean look. However, due to the labor intensive process, the cost of a Wall to Wall Installation is consequently more expensive.

Short of Wall Installation

For a Short of Wall Installation, the customer provides the basic measurements. Four pieces of information are needed from the customer:

length of the entire wall
height of the wall
number and location of cut outs (including plugs, light switches, etc) and type of cut outs (single, double, or triple)
Access to the area (if there are stairs/elevators, small entryways, other obstructions)

The glass mirror will cover almost the entire wall, stopping about an inch from each edge. All outer edges of the mirror will be covered by J-bars. This type of installation is less exacting and labor intensive, which results in a lower cost.

What types of mirror edges can I order?

At Dulles Glass & Mirror we specialize in on-site edging for:

Flat polish edge mirrors: A flat edge, the most common, has been sanded down and polished to a smooth shiny finish. Mirrors with flat polish edges are an excellent addition to a modern, minimalist décor.
*Beveled edge mirrors: A beveled edge involves cutting and polishing a mirror with a specific bevel width, which is chosen by the buyer during customization. Normal bevel widths can range in size from 1/4" to 1 3/4". The end product is very attractive; making beveled edge mirrors a perfect stand-alone decorative element for any room. Seamed edge mirrors: A seamed edge is applied to mirrors primarily as a safety precaution. The rough edges are sanded down, making the mirror easier to handle. However, due to the relatively unfinished look of a seamed edge, this type of mirror is mainly recommended for framing.

*It should be noted that decorative edges, such as a beveled, are not usually used for gym mirrors.

What is safety-backing for a mirror?

Safety-backing is an adhesive treatment applied to the back of mirrors. In the event that breakage occurs, safety-backing is meant to keep shards of glass from scattering everywhere and causing harm. It also helps limit necessary clean-up. Additional benefits include decreased chance of delamination, or moisture entrapment, and increased overall strength.
