Frosted Glass is an opaque, aesthetically attractive glass type. Shading is applied either in full or a design, which allows in light, but blurs the shape of items behind the glass pane.
This trendy glass produces a smooth and sweet white hue to the glass surface, reflectively emitting a soft light. It also is perfect for adding privacy in shower areas.
With Frosted Glass, only one side of the glass gets Frosted, but there are two ways to make Frosted Glass: Acid-Etching and Sand-Blasting.
Acid-Etched Frosted Glass is created with the use of abrasives (acid treatment) to create the signature Frosted Glass look.
On the other hand, Sandblasted Frosted Glass is created with a high speed machine that bombards the glass panel with sand, walnut husks or other materials.
Which one is better? That depends on your end goal. Acid-etched Frosted Glass produces a “true” frosted look and is more uniform and smoother to the touch.
Sandblasted Frosted glass offers versatility in creating design effects. First, one can choose a level of glass opaqueness from light, medium, or heavy. Also, sandblasting makes it possible to "frost" sections of a glass pane, such as creating privacy strips or patterns. This gives more control during the frosting process, and a more customizable design.
